Winter 2010
After a ever so slightly white Christmas, our fair country has been beset by tonnes of the white stuff and, as usual, we were less than ready for its onslaught.
I still love snow, having grown up in a hot, snowless land, is it is with apprehension that I cast any aspersions on it. I have to say, I've had enough of it now and I stare out my window with a degree of satisfaction, as the snow melts and the white vista is replaced by the familiar multi-coloured streets and houses I know so well.
I do get sick of the media lamenting, bemoaning and deriding our collective inability to cope. It's fair to say that the UK is not a snowy place. Let's face it, snow is scarce in Blighty. So why should our authorities and our economy be geared up to deal with snow? I think we need to step back and be thankful that we're not submerged by snow for months of the year.
Let's enjoy it when it comes and get on with our familiar grey, gloomy weather-bashing.
